Have you ever imagined a car race where all the drivers are blind? Would you dare to be the co-pilot guiding your driver through over 35 speeding cars to the finish line?
The 36th edition of the Mira Foundation’s Défi-Vision is a one-of-a-kind race that puts trust, communication, and teamwork to the ultimate test while supporting an essential cause: providing greater independence and social inclusion to people with disabilities through Mira’s highly trained guide and service dogs.
The Mira Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides free guide dogs and service dogs to people living with visual impairments and physical disabilities, as well as to youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Training a guide or service dog costs approximately $30,000, and every dollar raised through Défi-Vision helps transform a life.
CAN Advisory Council Chair, Tony Labillois, and teammate Jean Labbé, are taking on this extraordinary challenge! Tony was born visually impaired and will be behind the wheel, blindfolded, while Jean guides him through the race. For Tony, who has always dreamed of driving and loves high-adrenaline experiences, this is an incredible opportunity to push the limits. For both team members, who share deep values of equity, accessibility, and inclusion, this is the perfect way to put their beliefs into action.
